There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding the fruit and vegetable diet. People are wrong to assume that they can never eat meat while following the diet plan. It is more about increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables than eliminating meat from the diet plan entirely. In fact, it is important that people increase fruits and vegetables in their diet because fruits contain useful vitamins and fibers which are good for the skin, while vegetables contain proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins and have low calories.

Fruits and vegetables should be eaten raw because that is when they have maximum nutritional value. However, if you prefer to have your Fruit and Vegetable Diet some other way, you can always steam, bake or cook them, but make sure to never boil them as boiling lowers their nutrition count. Juices extracted from the fruits and vegetables are also good for the health, however, they lack the natural fibers. Technically, all fruits are good for health and can be included in Fruit and Vegetable Diet. However, some fruits have high sugar levels and hence should be taken in small amounts. The fruits which have low sugar levels and hence, can be taken all the time are grapefruit, blueberries, oranges, strawberries, green applies, cranberries, cantaloupe, papaya, guava, pears, blackberries and boysenberries.

The vegetables which contain high sugar content and should be consumed in checked quantities are dried fruits, bananas, coconuts, dates, grapes, and any kind of processed and canned fruit.


Now it’s time to take a look at all the vegetables that can be included in the Fruit and Vegetable Diet. Since all vegetables are almost equal in nutrient count, you don’t have to avoid any particular vegetable. Vegetables like summer squash, carrots, okra, broccoli, celery, mushrooms, green beans, tomato, cabbage, turnip greens, artichokes, onions, leeks, alfalfa sprouts, zucchinis, collard greens, lettuce, Brussels sprouts, scallions, eggplant, spinach and kale can be included in the diet.

Fruit and Vegetable Diet Plan

Having looked at all the various fruits and vegetables that can be included in the diet of fruits and vegetables, now let us learn about the best plan to follow throughout the day so that the diet can have maximum effect on our body.

 Breakfast:  For breakfast, you should have only the white part of two boiled eggs, a slice of brown bread, and a cup of black or green tea.

 Pre lunch:  You should have this two hours after taking your breakfast. For pre lunch, you should eat something light, like non-fat yoghurt with a fruit of your choice.

 Lunch:  The lunch should be eaten an hour after the pre lunch. Your lunch should also be quite light, comprising of only an egg salad with the boiled white parts of an egg, and any vegetables that you like to eat.

 Post lunch:  The post lunch food should be taken two hours after the lunch. A simple apple will suffice for the post lunch meal.

 Evening supper:  Two hours after the post lunch meal, you should be having your evening supper. A bowl of cherries of any kind is enough for the supper.

 Dinner:  You should make a habit of eating your dinner between 7.30pm to 8.00pm. An early dinner is always good for the health. For dinner, you should have some sandwiches made of brown bread, along with your favorite vegetables.
