How does a home pregnancy test work?

Home pregnancy tests are designed to detect the presence of chronic gonadotropin hormone which is released when egg become fertilized.
There are various Home pregnancy tests that can tell you if you're pregnant by detecting a hormone called as human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in your urine. This hormone is generated by the cells that will later develop into the placenta. It first enters the bloodstream when the fertilized egg starts implanting in the lining of the uterus, approximately six days after fertilization. The amount of HCG in the body then increases quickly over the next few weeks, which usually doubles every two days or so. When a test detects this particular hormone in your urine, it will show you a positive result.
